TOM Vizard, son of TV and radio heavyweight Steve Vizard, is set to send his South Yarra home under the hammer this weekend.

The copywriter bought the two-bedroom Edwardian at 13 Myrtle St in 2015 for $785,000, according to CoreLogic records, in what Marshall White selling agent Fraser Cahill described as a “family affair”.

“Steve and (his wife) Sarah live locally. They helped him buy the place,” Mr Cahill said.

“Tom’s sister bought the house next door — she wants to stay because she loves the street.

“He’s moving up to the north-side with his partner.”

The agent said Tom obtained plans and permits to extend the brick residence into a two-storey, three-bedroom abode with the intention of improving his home.

But they’re now part of the package set to be auctioned at 10.30am Saturday, with $850,000-$930,000 price hopes.

Mr Cahill said the pad offered “the most inexpensive entry point into South Yarra for a house” and a blue-chip position walking distance from Fawkner Park, the Royal Botanic Gardens and South Yarra station.

Steve — a Gold Logie winner best known for his work on Fast Forward and Tonight Live with Steve Vizard — sold his Orrong Rd, Toorak mansion in 2007 for $17.75 million to Good Guys boss Andrew Muir.

CoreLogic records show Muir offloaded the English-style residence for $28.775 million last year, after splashing $17 million on Daniel and Danielle Besen’s seven-bedroom Flinders weekender Miramar.
