It maybe surrounded by newer contemporary style homes, but this 1950s farmhouse in the semirural suburb of Pitt Town is proving a popular listing.

Set on a 1500sq m block, the four bedroom property at 90 Hall Street attracted more 50 inquiries within its first week on the market.

Featuring original sash style windows and a wraparound veranda, it had originally been part of larger estate which was subdivided around five years ago.

Agent Jason Hulme from Ray White Pitt Town said it was a very charming property which had been renovated in a Hamptons style that appealed to a wide range of buyers.

“It has the feel of a beautiful old homestead with wide hallways, high ceilings and large rooms,” he said.

“At the same it has been renovated for modern living with great alfresco area, a cabana by the pool and a theatre room.

“For me the best features is the kitchen and also the floors are just gorgeous.”

The property is being sold through private treaty and has a price guide of $1.45 million. It also has DA approval to convert the garage into a granny flat.

“We have had a lot of inquiries from local buyers and also from The Hills — it has surprised me because most of the homes in Pitt Town are new, ” Mr Hulme said.

Latest figures from CoreLogic RP Data show the median house price in Pitt Town is $1.33m with 78 sales recorded in the 12 month period ending in October. During this time prices have remained stable recording just a 0.4 per cent decrease.

There have been no sales recorded in January, however, a number of properties were purchased in the final quarter of 2018. Among them 28 Farmhouse Ave, a five bedroom property on 912 sqm, which sold for $1.225m and 36 Eden Circuit, a four bedroom home on a 2,500m block, which fetched $1.6m.
